Sleaford, Lincolnshire – The past 12 months have marked an extraordinary chapter for Sleaford Striders, as members of the local running club have taken on—and conquered—marathons across the UK and around the world.
From the historic streets of Boston, UK, to the iconic finish line in Boston, USA (Alan Oliver), Sleaford Striders have demonstrated determination, resilience, and a passion for running that continues to inspire the local community. Club members also proudly participated in the London Marathon, where several runners achieved impressive personal bests.
The club’s achievements extend far beyond the UK, with runners completing international marathons in destinations including Budapest, Honolulu (Philippe Le’roy), Seville, Tokyo, and Rome. Each race brought its own challenges, but also unforgettable experiences and a shared sense of accomplishment.
Beyond personal goals, many Sleaford Striders chose to make their miles matter by fundraising for important causes. Notably, members supported charities such as Myeloma UK and Macmillan Cancer Support, contributing both awareness and vital funds to these organisations.
A spokesperson for Sleaford Striders said:
“This year has truly showcased the spirit of our club. Whether it was achieving a personal best, completing a first marathon, or running for a cause close to their hearts, our members have gone above and beyond. We’re incredibly proud of every single runner.”
As the club looks ahead, Sleaford Striders remain committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive running community, encouraging runners of all abilities to take on new challenges—whether close to home or across the globe. The 21st May see’s an open evening welcoming anyone who is interested in joining a run club from Sleaford and the surrounding area. We welcome runners of all abilities from new to experienced, steady paced to fast. Meet Sleaford Town Football Club 18:45.
